Twitter Tests New Way Of Getting Rid Of Misleading Tweets: Enlisting Users

Select Twitter users in the US, South Korea, and Australia will be able to report misleading tweets as part of the social media platform’s campaign against misinformation. This will serve as a test for the feature, and will help determine if it’s an “effect approach.”
“We may not take action on and cannot respond to each report in the experiment, but your input will help us identify trends so that we can improve the speed and scale of our broader misinformation network,” the company tweeted.
According to CNET, other ways Twitter is exploring to combat misinformation include a community forum, Birdwatch, will allows users to flag misleading tweets and provide more context for other users.
For users who’ve been selected to trial the new report button, simply select the three gray dots on the right side of a tweet, and hit “Report Tweet” to give your feedback.
As of now, the company hasn’t said how many users it’s getting to test the feature. However, as social media platforms work towards combating the ever-increasing amount of misinformation on the web, this tool could come in handy as part of the efforts.
