Volkswagen Beetle Copycat Is Called ‘ORA Ballet Cat’ And Made For The Ladies

That’s not a Beetle, but a Cat. Manufactured by Chinese automaker ORA, the all-new, all-too-familiar Ballet Cat electric vehicle is scheduled for a debut at the Chengdu Auto Show on August 29.
It turns out that this isn’t the first ORA car with an appearance that screams Volkswagen Beetle, but with two additional doors. Prior to the Ballet Cat was the Punk Cat, which is green instead of pink. However, ORA hasn’t been too secretive about who its inspiration is, going so far as to dubbing its automobile a “time machine.”
According to autoevolution.com, the brand even successfully patented the design in Europe.
In terms of how much the Ballet Cat differs from the Punk Cat, the car news site notices minor distinctions in the taillights and rear spoiler, apart from the pink finish. Car News China describes that they’re essentially the same model, just that there’s “one for the boys and one for the girls.”
While specs for the Ballet Cat haven’t been released, its predecessor sports two battery pack options: 47.8 kWh for a 401-kilometer (249-mile) range, and 9.1 kWh for a 501-kilometer (311-mile) range.
So far, Volkswagen hasn’t contested the design.
