The latest to join the luxury EV scene is Cadillac , with its newest—and first—electric offering, the LYRIQ, for production in the first quarter of 2022.

Boasting more than 300 miles range, a 33-inch LED display, and hands-free Super Cruise mode, the LYRIQ has much to offer packed into its sleek, stately frame. Heralded as “assertive and modern,” the car’s key characteristics are agility and confidence.

One-Pedal Driving enables stopping and going without the need to hit a brake pedal; Regen on Demand allows drivers to control how quickly the car slows or stops while maximizing energy consumption; fast charging gets it another 76 miles in just 10 minutes; and Active Noise Cancellation utilizes sensors on each wheel to deliver a road-noise-less journey.

“Throughout the next decade, Cadillac will define the future of luxury transportation through a series of exciting new electric vehicles, and it all begins with LYRIQ,” states vice president Rory Harvey in the news release.

The interior’s polished finish focuses on arguably the center of attraction: the 33-inch LED smart display. Its seamless design aims to “energize” drivers and passengers, allowing the car to adopt its own personality through customization options such as color themes.

On its exterior, an instantly recognizable black crystal grille solidifies the branding—described by Andrew Smith, executive director of Cadillac Design, as “distinctly Cadillac.”

Vertical taillights almost give the car facial features, but its choreography—which allows the car to “speak”—truly emphasizes this “major technological breakthrough.”

Cadillac’s LYRIQ is scheduled for production in the first quarter of 2022, and pricing starting at US$59,990. Interest can be registered on its website now, and reservations will begin on September 18.
