Apple Wins Patent For Dual-Display MacBook With Wireless Charging & No Keyboard

Newly developed Apple MacBooks might lose a physical keyboard forever, and gain an extra display instead. Oh, and you can charge your iPhone wirelessly on its surface, too.
Submitted three years ago, according to Patently Apple, the company has just only won it. Creating a laptop with a dual display, the company plans that navigating the new laptop will be an entirely different experience.
This allows for different configurations, too—users can swap a traditional layout for an ergonomic one, or get rid of it entirely to reveal a game controller. The trackpad also won’t be in a fixed position; the entire system is completely configurable.

Diagrams of the patent also indicate the possibility of integrating other things into the interface, such as Face/Touch ID, a wireless charger, or other external peripherals. There are also suggestions of a swipe gesture, possibly replicating the iOS Slide to Type keyboard function.
Other conventional touchscreen gestures used widely in iOS devices and the existing trackpad, such as pinch to zoom, or swipe to go back / forward, could also be incorporated in this way.
Rumors have it that Apple is planning to do away with the touch bar on new MacBooks, but this isn’t taking it a step further: it’s a whole leap.
