SpaceX Celebrates NASA Astronaut’s Birthday By Sending Ice Cream Via Supply Ship

Last week, SpaceX successfully launched its 23rd resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) aboard its Cargo Dragon ship. After a day of traveling, the supply ship docked at the ISS, bringing with it essentials, research materials, and gifts.
NASA astronaut Megan McArthur, who oversaw the ship’s automated docking process, was celebrating her 50th birthday. And just in time, the ship provided ice cream and other treats to make her day even sweeter.
“No one’s ever sent me a spaceship for my birthday before. I appreciate it,” McArthur quipped over the radio as the capsule arrived.
According to Phys.org, apart from the usual scientific experiments and crew supplies, the cargo ship brought along with it a capsule containing lemons, cherry tomatoes, and avocados for the seven crew members.
Hopefully, these snacks will fuel the astronauts before the first of their three spacewalks, beginning on September 3. The previous exercise was suspended after one of the astronauts, Mark Vande Hei, suffered a medical issue just before it was about to take place.
