McLaren Presents Its Lightest Roadster In History, Has No Side Windows Or Roof

McLaren has unveiled its lightest road car ever, the redesigned McLaren Elva Roadster. The sleek silhouette aims to “deliver nothing but the purest possible driving experience,” taking commute to new heights.
With a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine and 804bhp, the car can go from 0 to 62mph in only under three seconds.
Notably, it has no roof or side windows, drawing on the original lightweight, open-roofed Elva design. This allows for an “always epic” view forward, since there isn’t anything to get in the way. “The feeling of space and blurring scenery won’t be forgotten,” declares the company.
“This is the next chapter in the McLaren design story.”

McLaren cites Formula 1 as a source of inspiration, attributing the craftmanship of “clean, fuss-free body sides and shrink-wrapped muscular shapes” to the ideas which take form as a result of heated competition.
Turbulent air won’t hinder the enjoyment of the ride, too. Active Air Management System (AAMS) protects passengers by manipulating airflow without sacrificing any connection to the world zipping past them.
The principle of “less is more” is encapsulated in the vehicle, with a body made entirely from Carbon Fiber Body in just three main panels, and even more weight is “slashed” thanks to its low-profile carbon fiber dihedral doors.

But don’t underestimate its capacity; there’s enough space underneath the tonneau cover for everyday belongings, including a drivers’ helmet.
And to really enhance that feeling of road luxury, a huge range of personalization options includes adding 18ct white gold or platinum badges, or a 24ct gold engine bay heat shield, to the car.
If all that sounds good to go, it may be useful to note that the McLaren Elva has a starting price of US$1,690,000, reports HYPEBEAST. Only 149 units are available for order in a highly exclusive run via the McLaren website.
