Hyundai’s luxury offshoot, Genesis, recently announced that every new vehicle made after 2025 will be an electric vehicle.
By 2030, it hopes to have eight different electric models, and aims to sell 400,000 units per year.
According toEngadget, the vehicles won’t necessarily be fully plug-ins, as Genesis is working on a “dual-fuel” model, with cars powered by lithium-ion cells as well as hydrogen fuel cell technology.
The automaker’s first electric vehicle will start shipping to North America next year, with the GV60 built on the same E-GMP platform used by the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6. It is said that the model will pack between 226 to 436 HP, and could offer both two-wheel or all-wheel drives.
Take a look at Genesis’ future expansion plans below, and the GV60 launching in 2022.
