BMW Shares Early Peek At 100% Recyclable Car Concept From Year 2040

At the IAA Mobility 2021 Conference, BMW revealed its i Vision Circular electric vehicle, which boasts a sci-fi look both with its exterior and on the inside.
The hatch is meant to be a sneak peek into how the brand’s sustainable vehicles will look like in the year 2040.

At first glance, the EV appears quite compact, even smaller than the brand’s 2 Series cars. However, it does still offer a spacious interior BMW is known for, due to a new EV platform and a smaller solid state battery. The color is two-toned, going from a light gold at the front to a cool dark blue at the back.
According to Engadget, the company avoided using any composited materials and bonded connections in the car’s construction, which will help make it easier to break down once it’s no longer in use.
Most of the vehicle is built using recycled aluminum, and comes with quick-release fasteners, press studs, and cords so recycling plants can dismantle it more easily. In a bold statement, BMW said the i Vision Circular is 100% recyclable.

While the EV’s exterior looks sleek, similar to the brand’s existing models, the interior is a little more far-fetched. The pink seats are made out of a recycled, velvet-like material, which also covers the doors and dashboard, but in light green. Even the car’s windshield and roof are made from glass.

The car’s v-shaped dashboard certainly looks like something out of a sci-fi film from the year 3000. According to BMW, it’s a 3D-printed crystal sculpture that would use different lighting to simulate the vehicle’s “thinking.” Driver information could also pop up on a display along the entire windshield, while the steering wheels comes with two touchpads as well.
Even more impressive, each seat would offer its own “dedicated sound zone,” meaning each passenger would be allowed to listen to their own music without the disturbance of others. Does this mean you’d never be stuck on a road trip with a playlist you hate?
