‘Matrix 4’ Makes You Pick Between Red & Blue Pills To Live Out The Preview

With fewer people going to the theaters, advertisers have been bending over backward on ways to creatively bring the moviegoing experience to audiences at home. This has transpired in the form of interactive trailers, like the Candyman promo that summons the trailer only if you call out that dreaded name five times, and the dystopian Hugh Jackman-starring Reminiscence trailer that deepfakes the viewer into his world.
And now, The Matrix wants you to make a choice. To tease the long-awaited fourth part of the blockbuster franchise, HBO Max has released bits and pieces of footage from The Matrix Resurrections, ground into the insidious red and blue pills, on WhatIsTheMatrix.com. One side is voiced by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, while the other is narrated by Neil Patrick Harris.
Although viewers agonized over the choices in the original 1999 film, the opportunity cost thankfully isn’t so drastic here. They can still go back and pick the other pill to watch another teaser.
As if there truly is a glitch in the Matrix, returning to the site on different occasions will reveal different scenes.
For the full picture, fans can catch the first full trailer at 6am PT on September 9 via the same website. The Matrix Resurrections will arrive on HBO Max and in theaters on December 22.
