Mercedes Dubbed ‘World’s Fastest SUV’ With Heavy Mods, Far Pricier Than Original

An aftermarket finetuning of the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe has produced what customizer Brabus has stated is “the world’s fastest SUV,” granting the vehicle the name of the ‘900 Rocket Edition’.
The twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 was increased to 4.5 liters by Brabus, which is a company specializing in tuning vehicles after they’ve been purchased from the manufacturer, giving it its power.
Essentially, this gives the engine the ability to shoot straight up to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds with a maximum speed of 205 mph.
Compared to the stock model, which meets its fastest at 174 mph, this is quite some way forward.
As for the claim to be the fastest in the world: it has been previously reported by Auto Express that the current fastest SUV is the Bentayga Speed by Bentley, which takes 3.9 seconds to reach the same 62 mph and has a maximum speed of 190 mph.
So it looks like the reworked Mercedes could very well prove to be the fastest after all.

In terms of its visuals, the car has been given new additions to its body, such as the new front apron, fender flares, and rear spoiler, to name a few. Red accents adorn the grille and wheels, matching the interior to contrast with the existing dark-colored leather used throughout.

The wheels are 24 inches in diameter, and equipped with aero discs. There’s the option to switch these out for a 23-inch set, too. But in order to reach the top speed—the world’s “fastest”—in the vehicle, it’s recommended to use the latter alongside the sticky tires from Continental.

With high speeds come high prices, though. The Brabus 900 Rocket Edition of this incredibly powerful SUV is priced at €453,681.55, (US$531,873). Meanwhile, the stock edition has a recommended price of €145,441.80 (US$170,258), autoevolution reports.
One thing’s for sure, though; it’s going to be a blast.
