This Mask Was Proven 99.95% Effective Against Delta After Ultrasonic Treatment

Masks have become routine. Most people know of disposable paper masks, medical-standard ones, or even reusable cloth masks that ensure that they will never clash with outfits.
But this company has designed one that it claims is 99.5% protective against the Delta variant of the virus, the most contagious and deadly one to date.
Sonovia has released its reports stating the results from VisMederi Textyle, a textile-testing lab in Italy. These show that the fabric its masks are made from are capable of eliminating the Delta variant particles with more than 99.95% effectiveness.
The company’s proprietary fabric was previously tested against the British variant of the virus and H1N1, or swine flu, and yielded similarly optimistic results.
On its website, Sonovia states that the key to achieving this level of protection is an “ultrasonic-based technology” that the fabric is treated with. This soundwave treatment prevents bacterial growth on the fabric’s surface.
“Our chemical formulations are all water-based,” the company declares. “No chemical binders or other harmful materials are used.” While the process is already greener from the lack of chemical binders involved, the treated fabric also turns into something more sustainable as it can be safely reused while remaining clean.
Two makes of mask are currently available; the SonoMask utilizes a dual-layered fabric to remain safe yet breathable, while the SonoMask Pro offers three layers. The additional is a polypropylene filter, which gives an extra layer of protection.

Apart from masks, this bacteria-busting concept could be utilized in things like hotel textiles, sportswear, and public transport seat upholstery.
Many testing labs across the globe have reported positive results from Sonovia’s fabric. Next up in testing will the Mu variant, which is currently labeled by the World Health Organization as “of interest.”
