Apple Defends iPad Mini’s ‘Jelly Scrolling’ Annoyance As ‘Totally Normal’

Earlier this week, customers who got their hands on Apple’s new iPad Mini were baffled by a “wobbling” effect that occured when they scrolled down a page.
One customer even returned to the Apple Store to replace their device, but couldn’t do so as all the display models had the same glitch.
Now, in response to an article by Ars Technica, Apple said the “jelly scrolling” was “totally normal” behavior, and it occurs due to “a tiny delay between when the lines at the top of the screen and the lines at the bottom are refreshed.”
“This can cause uneven scrolling issues like the ones observed on the iPad,” it added.
Despite rumors that a fix could be added to the next software update, Apple has remained mum on whether it’s planning to address this issue, or if “jelly scrolling” will remain on the device indefinitely. Input noted that the glitch hasn’t been spotted on other 60Hz LCD iPads.
The best-case scenario is for the next iOS update to eradicate the issue, or Apple will definitely be hearing about it from more customers as their brand-new iPads ship out.
