Remote work used to be a niche job feature, but now, it’s the norm. As the workforce becomes more distributed than ever, Dropbox is introducing three different tools to connect the creative industry, making collaborations much more convenient and sensible than sending emails back and forth.
The first, and the only one available to test as a beta program right now, is ‘
Dropbox Capture’, the anti-Zoom doing away with the scheduling of impossible virtual meetings across different timezones. With this tool, creatives can present their work—without being there in real-time—by creating personalized video messages, sharing their screens, and dropping other types of visuals like GIFs.
Granted, you could explain your part of the project via email, but the near-extinction of in-person meetings has proven that emails can waste a great deal of time—sometimes, you need to get everything out, with visual aids, to get your ideas across. That’s where video comes in.
Between 2019 and 2020, Dropbox also saw a 50% rise in video-editing files being shared in its cloud storage service. This means creatives need a place to share and discuss rich media, so it’s bringing ‘
Dropbox Replay’, a platform to exchange feedback directly on specific frames.
For creatives hoping to earn side income from selling digital assets, the upcoming ‘
Dropbox Shop’ will allow them to quickly monetize graphics from their Dropbox folders and turn them into product listings.
According to Dropbox, these tools are only the beginning. “We will continue supporting our customers by building even more dynamic experiences that connect all of their content to their workflows.”
