Skinny London Home Goes Up For Sale, Somehow Looks Roomy Inside

Want to live in an optical illusion? A two-bedroom apartment in a 19th-century London home endearingly termed ‘The Thin House’ has been listed for sale at a price of £795,000 (US$1.07 million).
While the building seems like an extreme example of tiny spaces at ridiculous prices, you’re truly just looking at it from the southwest corner, its slimmest side.
In truth, the famous 5 Thurloe Square in swanky South Kensington is triangular in shape—at its narrowest, it stretches just six feet across, and its structure widens to a maximum of 34 feet. For this particular apartment, you’d even be getting a roomy 11-foot-wide master bedroom, Apartment Therapy notes.

In the 1800s, the neighborhood was a hotspot for art and culture, inevitably drawing artists into the area to set up their studios. The apartment building was one such venue and housed an impressive seven artists’ studios, thanks to the planning skills of local builder William Douglas.
The dwelling for sale only measures 580 square feet, but its space has certainly been utilized in the most savvy way, allowing for two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Meanwhile, the timeless black and white palette within invites its new owner to adorn it with pops of color.
All this, and the apartment still manages to fit in a private terrace. The outdoor area measures just five feet wide, but it’s the perfect little sanctuary to get a spot of sunshine.
