Microsoft Gave Out Free Windows 11 NFTs, But Calling Them Art Would Be A Stretch

To celebrate the launch of the long-awaited Windows 11, Microsoft threw a massive bonanza, with a “6D musical experience” as one of the festivities. And, oh, it handed out free non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to anyone who would attend the virtual event too.
“The Windows 11 NFT is a one-of-a-kind cryptographic token that lives in your digital wallet and unlocks valuable experiences and rewards,” the company teased.

A 6D musical performance and a Microsoft-designed NFT? What does it all mean? As it turns out, the event probably had little resemblance to what you had in mind.
By “6D,” Microsoft meant that the livestream would be filmed at several angles, so anyone who had dusted off their 3D or VR gear to “teleport” the show into their homes needn’t have bothered. Anyhow, they’d still enjoy stellar performances by singers Tate McRae and Allen Stone, who headlined the event.
The idea of exclusive NFTs being given out to millions for free probably seemed too generous to be true, and viewers who came in with doubts were right to be suspicious. Those who redeemed theirs have discovered that it simply contains links to where they can purchase Windows 11 devices on Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and more.
Be that is it may, you can still enjoy the launch party here, now that you’d be heading in without rose-tinted glasses.
