Google Added A Guitar Tuner To Its Search Tool, Just In Case

The Google search engine is always there when users need it, it seems. How many times have you said, “Oh, let’s just google it,” in response to, well, pretty much anything?
In spite of this reliability, the company appears to be set on changing that “anything” to “everything.” Until now, one of the things that couldn’t be properly googled was “is my instrument in tune?” and now, it can.
Plugging the term “Google Tuner” into the search engine now brings up a fully-functional tuner that utilizes your device’s microphone to gauge the sound of the instrument in question.
Discovered by Android Police, the feature was shown to have previously worked via Google Assistant: simply ask it to “tune my instrument” and the job is done. But now, this feature has been expanded to the search engine and doesn’t require the assistant stepping in.
Apart from telling you whether your instrument is in tune, the tool will also indicate how sharp or flat its sound may be, as well as whether it needs to be tuned up or down to hit the nearest note.

Tests by Android Police and Mashable have shown that although it’s largely accurate, it’s also highly dependent on the quality of the microphone. This will also depend on how loud the instrument is played, as sound might not be picked up effectively if it’s deemed too soft.
Do note that the tuner will only be brought up when searching “Google Tuner” specifically, though. Other searches like “guitar tuner” or “instrument tuner” won’t yield the same results, even if the terms are closely related.
