Fujifilm Debuts Instax Wide Smartphone Printer For Palm-Sized Digital Keepsakes

Fujifilm has just announced the latest in its growing lineup of instant printers built on the aesthetic of retro film. The Instax Link Wide Smartphone Printer is capable of doing everything its predecessor, the Mini Link Smartphone Printer, can, but this time in large format.
This utilizes Instax Wide instant film, which is a first for the brand’s smartphone printing products. In the prints, users will be able to choose from Instax Rich, which accentuates deep, warm colors; and Instax Natural, which highlights the existing tones in the image.
“After enjoying all the image printing capabilities available from their INSTAX Mini Link Smartphone Printers, so many of our consumers reached out, enthusiastically requesting an INSTAX Wide photo print option as well, in order to print their Smartphone or digital camera images on a larger scale,” explains president of Fujifilm’s Imaging Division, Manny Almeida.

To print, users will just need to install the free Instax Link Wide App and connect their device to the printer via Bluetooth. Within this app, users can then browse and edit images, including adding text and stickers, and choose from around 30 filters before sending it to print.
Plus, when printing a photo, users can choose to add a QR code to the photo. These codes, when scanned, can provide additional content to enhance the visual, such as a recorded sound, location tagging, or a link to a website.

There’s also the option to print stills from a video captured on the device, just in case there are multiple frames that are just too good to miss.

The Instax Link Wide Printer doesn’t need to be plugged in to be used, and can instead sustain around 100 prints on a single charge. It’s lightweight and easily portable, too.
Launching alongside the printer is a new variety of film, in large format, of course. Besides the conventional white film, the Wide Black instant film is being introduced, which is said to contrast both the hues of the print and the usual white-bordered look of Instax prints.

The Instax Link Wide Smartphone Printer will be available to buy in late October, and comes in two colors: Ash White and Mocha Gray. It will be retailing at around US$149.95, and more details can be found on its website.
