KFC Launches Website Rewarding Copycats Of Secret Fried Chicken Recipe

There are 516,000 copycat recipes for KFC’s Original Recipe chicken on YouTube, a fact that the fried chicken giant isn’t blind to. Instead of getting mad, though, the chain is mighty grateful that people love the menu item enough to guess all 11 secret herbs and spices and replicate it at home.
So, fret not; the Colonel isn’t cracking down on Original Recipe impersonators. In fact, KFC Spain and creative agency PS21 have launched a website thanking fans for their effort… by offering them original Original Recipe chicken.
On the new copypaste.kfc.es, visitors will be able to exchange DIY KFC recipes for actual food. Pasting the URL of a copycat recipe on YouTube will convert it into a redemption code usable in any Spanish KFC restaurant through October.
According to The Stable, 25,000 codes were handed out in just two days.
“We’re proud of the people who have spent so much time trying to copy the original KFC recipe at home and share their versions with the rest of the world,” says KFC brand manager Beatriz Martinez. “We’re going to give back their time and effort through what we do best – the Colonel Sanders Original recipe.”
