Honda Presents Light Jet Concept Capable Of Traveling Cross-Country Nonstop

Honda Aircraft Company, the subsidiary of Japanese car manufacturer Honda, has just unveiled its concept for the ‘HondaJet 2600’ at NBAA 2021. Capable of cruising at a high speed of 450 knots, the aircraft would be able to reach up to 47,000 feet in height—around 8.9 miles above the Earth’s surface.
The best part is that its groundbreaking new features, the company says, would make it the first light jet to be able to fly nonstop from Los Angeles to New York.
This is thanks to three key features of the aircraft: an over-the-wing engine mount, a carbon composite fuselage, and its nose and wings bearing improved Natural Laminar Flow (NLF) technology. This would give it a range of around 2,625 nautical miles, which translates to 3,020 miles.
Up to 11 passengers would be able to travel comfortably in the cabin, which is touted to be more spacious and deliver a “class-leading cabin tranquility” alongside “greatly reduced” vibration as compared to traditional light jets. There are three types of cabin configurations all highly customizable to passengers’ needs.

It only requires a single pilot to fly it, too. Innovative technologies like electrification and automated throttle and brake systems offer the “utmost operational safety” through reducing the workload of the pilot.
The ‘HondaJet 2600’ would be capable of promising all of this alongside a 20% increased fuel efficiency, which sees the figure jump to 40% when compared to a regular mid-size jet. Plus, it would give off a smaller amount of resultant carbon emissions, the company writes in the press release.
“With the HondaJet 2600 Concept, which enables efficient transcontinental flight, offers new level of cabin comfort and capacity, and dramatically reduces CO2 emissions, we are introducing a new generation of business jets,” declared President and CEO of the Honda Aircraft Company, Michimasa Fujino, when introducing the concept aircraft.
