These Fun, 3-Wheeled Zero-Emission EVs Can Now Be Rented Per Minute

Two wheels for bicycles, three for tricycles, and cars have four. Unless, of course, someone has something new waiting in store.
Arcimoto is now reworking what it means to have a vehicle. It’s not quite a car but it’s definitely not a tricycle, either. These all-electric three-wheelers, which come in the Deliverator and Fun Utility Vehicle (FUV) models, are open-air and don’t give off any emissions.

The only thing that might hinder potential customers getting their anticipating hands on one of these cool new tricycle-car hybrids is the cost. It will currently set you back US$18,000 to procure one, or, as Electrek notes, closer to US$12,000 if the company hits its scaling goals.
However, passengers will be able to try the exciting new vehicles out without needing to invest in one: they’re going to be available for rent. In a new partnership with parking real estate and delivery restaurant operator REEF, Arcimoto is going to be offering “a zero-emission vehicle-sharing program specializing in the future of urban mobility.”

Based in Santa Monica, California, the REEFDrive program will allow its customers “on-demand access” to both models of the vehicle depending on what they need.
If errands need to be run or a delivery made, the Deliverator is there to do the job. Described as “the next generation of local delivery vehicles,” its head-turning design promises a faster and more low-cost alternative to the traditional delivery truck. After all, its small size allows users to weave through traffic, and its design also doesn’t require as much maintenance.

However, if users are just looking for something to explore the sprawling beaches and bustling city with, the FUV definitely won’t hold back. With a 75mph top speed and instant torque and acceleration, it also boasts a panoramic roof and removable doors.

The REEFDrive partnership “is a perfect fit,” states Mark Frohnmayer, CEO and Founder of Arcimoto. “As REEF provides the real estate and infrastructure, and we provide our innovative electric vehicles at an affordable price that makes driving electric as accessible as possible.”
For a limited time, REEFDrive is offering customers the chance to rent an FUV at US$1.00 to begin the ride, followed by 49 cents per minute after.
