Google Now Allows Removal Requests For Images Featuring Minors

Google has just announced a new policy that will enable minors or their guardians to apply for images to be removed from its search results.
This move comes as part of the company’s efforts to allow young persons to have more control over their online footprint, further protecting their privacy and mental wellbeing.
“Kids and teens have to navigate some unique challenges online, especially when a picture of them is unexpectedly available on the internet,” the tech giant said.
In order to request for an image to be removed, users will have to submit a form with the URL of the picture in question, as well as the search terms used to find it. Google will then look at each request on a case-by-case basis, as per NPR.
However, the tech firm cautions users that removing an image from its search engine doesn’t mean it’ll be permanently removed from the internet. It recommends reaching out to the page’s site master to completely scrub any information.
If you wish to remove an image, but are above 18 years old, that’s also possible. There’s a different set of instructions for those requests.
