Tesla Recalls Nearly 3,000 Model 3 & Model Y Cars With Suspension Issues

Tesla has confirmed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that it will be recalling nearly 3,000 units of its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles due to newly-uncovered suspension issues.
This announcement comes as the NHTSA penned an open letter to the automaker last month, saying it should’ve officially filed for a recall when it issued an over-the-air update to its Autopilot software.
Now, in its most recent filing with the agency, Tesla said it is recalling cars as the “front suspension lateral link fasteners may loosen, allowing the lateral link to separate from the sub-frame.”
“Tesla Service will tighten or replace the lateral link fasteners as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed December 24, 2021. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-21-31-003.”
According to Electrek, even though notification letters are only expected to reach customers by the end of the year, the company said it has already started sending out emails to notify owners of affected models.
Additionally, it issued another recall regarding a faulty airbag, but that problem only extended to two units of the 2020-2021 Model 3.
