Forget fries and onion rings, Burger King will now serve up a “side of cryptocurrency” with your burger.
The fast-food chain announced it is partnering with investment firm Robinhood to offer Royal Perks members a chance at winning Dogecoin, Ethereum, or Bitcoin.
According to USA Today, customers who spend US$5 or more on the Burger King app, site, or at restaurants, just have to quote “my code” at checkout to redeem the prize.
Running till November 21, or till stocks last, the promo will primarily offer Dogecoin to winners, though the really lucky ones could walk away with a full Ethereum or Bitcoin. In total, Burger King will be offering 20 Bitcoin, 20 Ethereum, and 2,000,000 Dogecoin.
In order to claim the prize, customers will receive an email with details on how to sign up with Robinhood, though existing users need not create a new account. An individual can only earn one prize per day but can collect up to 21 in total from now till the end of the promotion, as per
Fortune.
“Cryptocurrency (crypto) has been a hot topic of conversation recently, but we know it can be difficult to understand. That’s why we wanted to bring crypto to our guests in a way that was accessible and digestible (literally and figuratively)—through our food,” Burger King said.
Unfortunately, you can’t pay for your burgers in cryptocurrency just yet, but if this promotion takes off, who knows? You could be sinking your teeth into a Bitcoin-bought Whopper real soon.
