Samsung Creates $1,000 Z Flip Denim Jeans With Pocket To Carry The Smartphone

Samsung might be diving into inventive wearables, but these aren’t smart jeans that monitor biometric data and the sort—yet, they warrant an AU$1,499 (US$1,112) price tag. Luckily, they come with the Galaxy Z Flip3, worth US$1,000, too.
Designed to accommodate the smartphone’s folding form factor, the Z Flip Pocket Denim is, yep, foldable, but it also comes with a pocket perfectly sized for the Galaxy Z Flip3. In dipping its toes into fashion, Samsung Australia teamed up with local denim brand Dr Denim to make these limited-edition pants an actual thing.

Samsung seems convinced that jean pockets are too large, which, honestly, is brand-new information for women—given that pockets on women’s clothing are often made too small, are absent, or are even fake. But, whatever. The tech giant is ploughing on with this idea.
“They take up too much space, they don’t look stylish, and the latest phones slip and slide inside them,” the company justifies. “The Z Flip Pocket Denim jeans make big pockets a thing of the past.”
The front pockets have been intentionally sealed shut with the letter ‘Z’ stitched at the openings, nodding at the Galaxy Z series; and where the rear pockets should be are simply saturated in pocket-shaped silhouettes of blue.

There’s only one real pocket, and it’s meant to fit the exact dimensions of the device that the jeans are named after. “Z Flip Pocket Denim fits the Galaxy Z Flip3, but they don't fit them apples,” teases Dr Denim.
“Smartphones are often not pocket-friendly, so we’ve leveraged Dr Denim’s style credentials to design jeans that shake up the pocket norm and perfectly fit our compact Galaxy Z Flip3,” declares Hayley Walton, head of brand marketing at Samsung Mobile. “Our Galaxy Z Flip3 users expect the very best in design and pocketability, and what better to accompany our premium phones than the perfect pair of bespoke jeans.”
Only 450 pairs have been made. When those are sold, you’ll just have to make do with regular pockets that are so oversized you’d have to support your phone with keys, receipts, and gum too. The jeans are available in men’s and women’s styles over at the Dr Denim website.
