Uber Eats Divulges The Biggest Food Cravings Of 2021

With the pandemic raging on, it’s undeniable that ordering in has become a big part of our lives.
This year, in Uber Eats’ Cravings Report, it appears that the nation has been on a Mexican food binge, with the cuisine topping the charts, along with more head-scratching mentions like bananas—which turned out to be the most popular grocery item delivered in the last 12 months.
According to USA Today, the delivery service sent more than 25,000 pounds of bananas nationwide. Unsurprisingly, grocery delivery has been on the rise, with weekends being the most popular days for customers to get their goods.
As mentioned, Mexican food snagged the top spot in terms of cuisine, followed by burgers and sandwiches, Chinese food, Indian food, and sushi. And if you’re feeling guilty about how much you’ve spent on Uber Eats throughout the year, don’t worry. Unless you made the biggest order—a whopping US$7,719.82 of groceries—you’re in the clear.
The company also shared some of the funniest special requests, including a customer who was extra-specific about a pulled pork sandwich.
The customer wrote: “If you could please thoroughly saturate the pulled pork with the barbecue sauce — I just want to make sure that the pulled pork is fully covered in barbecue sauce, as opposed to just putting unsauced meat on the bun, and then some barbecue sauce on the top.” Talk about being precise!
Apart from food and groceries, Uber Eats extended its reach to convenience stores, including Walgreens, CVS, and 7-Eleven. This meant more customers purchased items such as bouquets of flowers, Slurps, and been COVID-19 self-testing kits.
