Levi’s Steps Into Winter With Boots Made From Eco-Friendlier Materials

Jeans maker Levi’s is introducing more environmentally-friendly winter boots, in a collaboration with The Woolmark Company.
Dubbed the ‘Torsten Quilted’, the wool-lined shoe combines an upper made of leather—environmentally certified by the Leather working group—and eco-Cordura, a material made from reclaimed waste. The boots will also come with recycled soles and laces.
According to Farm Online, the companies chose merino wool for the shoe’s lining, as the 100% natural, renewable, biodegradable, and recyclable material ticks all the boxes for eco-conscious yet durable style.
Not to mention, as per Innovation In Textiles, apart from being sustainable, the Woolmark-certified lining is also breathable, manages moisture levels, and is resistant to odors.
“The inclusion of merino wool in the Levi’s boot not only highlights the versatility of the original performance fiber, but also shines a spotlight on the sustainable nature of the fiber, pursuing the company’s mission to inform and promote wool as the original eco and recyclable fiber,” said Australian Wool Innovation CEO, John Roberts.
“Merino wool is increasingly present in the world of younger generations, who care not only about performance, but also about durable and environmentally friendly materials.”
The Torsten Quilted boots are retailing online and in selected stores for £120 ($162).
