Apple Releases ‘Hollywood At Home’ Video To Turn Your Space Into Mini Movie Sets

With a touch of movie magic, your home will look nothing like the quarters you were confined in for over a year. Apple exemplifies this in the latest video to its long-running Everyday Experiments creative tutorial series, this time with the iPhone 13.
Once again tapping into the prowess of Dong Hoon Jun and James Thornton from design and creative technology studio incite, the video shows you how to create blockbuster-worthy car scenes, fantastical foodscapes, and monster films using objects (and pets) you might already have at home. All these pack an even greater punch with the iPhone 13’s Cinematic mode and photo or video filters.
Using remote-controlled cars, for instance, the duo demonstrates an action-packed sequence of races and collisions captured in a parking garage. They recommend strapping the iPhone to a moving object to make such scenes appear more dynamic.

Meanwhile, filters on the iMovie app turn a vlog-like aesthetic into something far more cinematic.

We’re not saying you should play with food, but when that moment of inspiration strikes, you might consider creating Candyland-like landscapes from… groceries. A few movie-making tricks, like putting objects close to the camera and holding lighting nearby to cast long shadows, give miniature objects the size and depth they’re missing.

Finally, Jun and Thornton enlist a cuddly corgi to take on the role of a monster terrorizing a city. “Buildings” are constructed from a pile of old cardboard boxes they’ve collected in the past months—as have many others.

And with the iPhone 13 positioned at strategic angles, the pupper does a more-than-decent job of playing a Godzilla-type character.
