‘Squid Game’ Creator Confirms Sequel As Fans Give Him ‘No Choice’

If you binged the entirety of Squid Game in one sitting, there’s good news. The show’s writer and director, Hwang Dong-hyuk, has confirmed that the second season of the hit series is currently in the “planning process.”
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand, and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave with us no choice!” Hwang told the Associated Press at an event in Los Angeles celebrating its blockbuster first season.
“But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently. But I do think it’s too early to say when and how that’s going to happen,” he elaborated.
Fans of Seong Gi-hun, the series’ main protagonist who was played by South Korean actor Lee Jung-jae, will be delighted that the director confirmed that the character will be appearing in the upcoming season. According to Polygon, Hwang, who was at the event with Lee, said: “I will promise you this, Gi-hun will come back. He will do something for the world.”
If you’ve yet to catch the series, it’s available for viewing on Netflix. Additionally, the streaming service has added three other movies directed by Hwang to its offerings, allowing fans to appreciate even more of the creator’s work.
