Enthralling High-Rise ‘Cracks’ Open To Reveal Greenery Inside

In recent years, it has become increasingly common for architectures to build lush green spaces into their buildings. But how about a high-rise that has greenery filling in the ‘cracks’ in its façade?
MAD Architects, the firm behind this whimsical reflective building in Denver, has come up with an enthralling design that merges foliage with a massive earthquake-like rift, depicting—quite literally—how nature can heal the fractures in our environment.
The estate, which will be named One River North, will stand approximately 216 feet high, consisting of 16 floors. According to New Atlas, most of its space will be occupied by 187 rental units, ranging from one to three bedrooms in size.
In addition to the homes, the building will feature retail space on the ground floor, including amenities such as a fitness center, yoga studio, work area, pet spa, and lounge area. Residents will get to enjoy a rooftop pool, spa, deck, and garden offering picturesque views of the Rocky Mountains.
Not to mention, One River North boasts over 13,000 sqft of open space, water features, and even a “trail” walkway spread across four floors, allowing homeowners to feel as though they’re at one with nature even within the high-rise.
“The structure’s most striking feature, a 10-story landscaped rift that defines its exterior, is inspired by Colorado’s diverse biomes, and recalls the experience of ascending the foothills to the trail and canyon, to reaching the alpine plateau,” said The Max Collaborative, a co-developer of the project.
“This unparalleled experience increases resident views and blends nature into the urban landscape.”
One River North is expected to be completed by late 2023.
