Google Cloud Blackout Disrupts Spotify, Snap, And Etsy—But They’re Back

Several online platforms, including Spotify, Snapchat, and Etsy, were down globally for a brief while, seemingly due to a Google Cloud blackout.
According to Reuters, Google resolved the issue with its Cloud Networking shortly after users reported the lapse on Downdetector, an outage tracking website. In addition to the popular websites, other services such as Google Cloud’s developer tools, console, and engine were affected.
Snapchat confirmed the problem in a tweet, saying: “Many Snapchatters are having trouble using the app. Hang tight, we’re working on a fix. In the meantime, we recommend staying logged in.”
It then followed up an hour later, tweeting that “the issue has been resolved.”
This is the second major disruption since last month’s massive Meta outage, which left Facebook and Instagram inaccessible for over six hours. Reports following the incident attributed the blackout to an internal human error.
Fortunately, this time, the issues appear to have been fully resolved, and all affected websites are now back online.
