Hayao Miyazaki Is Coming Out Of Retirement Again For Final Studio Ghibli Movie

If you’re a big fan of Studio Ghibli films, you’d have heard its creator Hayao Miyazaki announce his retirement several times over the years.
The first time the famed director said he was calling it quits was in the late 90s, though he later returned to create the 2002 Academy Award-winning film, Spirited Away.
Most recently, Miyazaki announced he was bidding goodbye to the industry in 2013, leaving behind an impressive resume of 11 feature films over a 34-year period. However, it appears that the maestro will be coming out of retirement once again to direct a new film.
In an interview with The New York Times, Miyazaki said he has spent the last four years working on the new movie, which isn’t finished just yet.
While not much is not known about the film thus far, it seems to be based on a 1937 novel by Genzburo Yoshino, titled How Do You Live?
According to CNET, the book follows the journey of a 15-year-old boy in Tokyo, whose father had recently passed away. The novel is reportedly one of Miyazaki’s favorite “childhood” tales.
Toshio Suzuki, co-founder and producer of Studio Ghibli, said the new film would be “fantasy on a grand scale.”
Miyazaki has yet to confirm if the film’s title will match the book, saying: “I am making this movie because I do not have the answer.”
