Amazon Releases ‘Alexa Together’ Service For Caregivers To Step Out Worry-Free

Amazon’s Alexa Together service has officially gone live, as part of a new way for caregivers to keep tabs on vulnerable loved ones. Its Remote Assist function allows for helpers to manage an individual’s shopping lists, send reminders to their Echo device, share music services, and other such tasks to make their lives a little easier.
That’s not all. As part of its subscription service, a 24/7 urgent response team will be on call for assistance should a compatible device detect that an elderly person has fallen or injured themselves. They simply have to say “Alexa, call for help,” and someone will be on the line to assist them.
Plus, it’s not limited to a single caregiver per device, with Amazon allowing for a “circle of friends” set up so that more than one family member can contribute.
According to SlashGear, the revolutionary program enables caregivers to create custom alerts on their own devices. For example, one can request to be notified if their loved one hasn’t used their Alexa devices for a set period of time to be alerted of possible accidents, or just for when a parent requires assistance for daily tasks.
If you’re interested in trying out the service, it’s now available for a six-month free trial, after which you can opt for a US$19.99/month of US$199/year subscription option. Take note that both the caregiver and the recipient will require their own Amazon accounts for the program to work both ways. At the moment, Alexa Together is only available in the US.
