Hyundai Shows Off Quirky Robot That Can Serve You Booze… Or Carry Babies

For CES next year, Hyundai has unveiled the Mobile Eccentric Droid (MobED), a four-wheeler that’s meant to help carry items around your home.
The firm designed the robot with an adjustable wheelbase and flexible steering angles, so it can ferry cargo through complex routes or on uneven surfaces.
According to Mashable, the MobED comes with three motors, and boasts a top speed of 30 km/h (18 mph). It measures 67 cm (26 inches) long, 60 cm (24 inches) wide, and 33 cm (13 inches) high with a weight of 50 kg (110 lbs)—making it rather hefty and not very portable if you’re planning on bringing it around.
The device’s wheelbase can be contracted to 45cm for trickier maneuvers and be expanded up to 65cm when it needs a broader base to go quicker.

As it essentially is a flat surface with wheels attached, the MobED can carry nearly anything you’d need it to. Hyundai’s own examples are pretty quirky, with the brand suggesting the robot could deliver cocktail glasses filled with booze, or even a baby stroller, though we’re not sure if the baby’s included.
Realistically, the robot could potentially be used in large spaces such as stadiums, expos, or even at airports when items needed to be ferried around quickly.
While it’s not recommended you leave your little one in the stroller to zip around the house, the MobED certainly will make for a fun household aide should you need help fetching the newspaper or a cup of coffee.
