As Ted Lasso fans eagerly await the next season of the award-winning, inspiring comedy series, Apple TV is surprising them with a gift in the form of an amazing mini-episode to provide relief for those withdrawals.
In the short entitled The Missing Christmas Mustache, Ted’s iconic facial hair is gone! Well, in reality, the end of no-shave November could be to blame, but that’s not how the plot goes.
The (American) English football coach is devastated by this discovery. “I really wanted this Christmas to be perfect,” he laments to himself.
As a fun new element, the entire four-minute film takes on a claymation style. It’s also voiced by the main cast of the show, namely Jason Sudeikis (who plays Ted), Hannah Waddingham (Rebecca), Brendan Hunt (Coach Beard), Juno Temple (Keeley), Brett Goldstein (Roy Kent), Nick Mohammed (Nathan), Phil Dunster (Jamie Tartt), and Jeremy Swift (Higgins).
Thanks to the magic of animation, the producers were also able to introduce aspects of fantasy into the short. Another cool touch is the animated remake of the opening theme.
