Secret Winner Of Blue Origin’s $28M Ticket To Space Reveals Himself
Back in June, Blue Origin sold the first seat aboard its New Shepard rocket through a live auction, with the top bid securing the ride for a whopping US$28 million. At the time, the winner had remained anonymous, and due to “scheduling conflicts,” had passed on seat to 18-year-old Oliver Daemen instead.
Now, the winner has revealed himself as technology entrepreneur Justin Sun. The founder of TRON, a cryptocurrency platform, said on Twitter that he plans to embark on the space trip sometime in the fourth quarter of 2022. He will bring five guests along with him on the incredibly expensive vacation to space.
According to Insider, Sun said he will personally select the five guests as part of a campaign he’s called the ‘Sea of Stars’. He said his first nominee would be a leader in the cryptocurrency space or the metaverse. Nominees will be revealed over the course of the coming year, and will include personalities from the TRON community, technology sector, art industry, and a “highly visible and socially influential celebrity.”
“Going to space has been a dream of mine since my childhood, and it is also the future direction of humankind. I want to share my joy with everyone in the TRON DAO community and the whole crypto world,” Sun wrote.
