Apple Ad Relives Real Emergencies To Show How Its Watch Can Save Lives
The Apple Watch, apart from adding a degree of convenience to wearers’ lives, can also come in handy in a pinch—or end up being a lifesaving tool. Apple has detailed this in its new ad, titled 911, demonstrating the ways its Watch’s features can help in different dire situations.
In particular, the Watch’s Emergency SOS feature allows users to contact emergency services by pressing and holding the watch’s side button and dragging a finger on the emergency slider.
Three real incidences are highlighted in the short video, according to Mashable. Amanda, Jason, and Jim found themselves in threatening situations while alone, with no one to help. All of them were able to be rescued by dialing 911 using their Watch, a conversation showcased in the advertisement.
The three accidents involve a car flipping and filling with water, falling 21 feet off a ladder, and a strong wind carrying a paddleboard too far out to sea.
Thankfully, all three were able to get help “in minutes” thanks to their device.
“These are just three of many incredible stories where people were able to get help using Apple Watch,” the company writes in the video description.
Apple also posted a similar short clip to its Twitter page, which spotlights the Watch’s fall detection feature. This triggers a similar emergency response to ensure the user can get help even if they’re unable to get up to reach their phone.

All these situations appear to present the same question: At this point, our phones are an omnipresence in our lives, but what happens if the tools we rely on, for whatever reason, cannot be reached?
