NASA’s Newest Telescope Is A Diva, Throws ‘Shade’ At Other Twitter Accounts
Earlier this week, the official Twitter account for NASA’s new James Webb Space Telescope sent tongues wagging when it tweeted screenshots of accounts for the Sun, Moon, and Earth that it had blocked.
However, instead of “throwing shade” or signaling trouble between NASA’s internal departments, it appears that it was all a joke in an attempt to announce that the telescope had successfully deployed its sunshield in space.
According to Mashable, the shield is made of incredibly fine plastic sheets coated with a reflective metal, helping to protect or “shade” the telescope and its precision instruments from the heat and light from the sun, moon, and Earth.
All three of the accounts replied with humorous puns, marking the milestone with lightheartedness. As per EastMojo, NASA hopes the telescope will be able to explore every phase of cosmic history in our solar system as well as galaxies far away, and maybe even shed some light on how our universe came to be.
