Model Sues After Her Likeness Was Made Into NSFW Adult Doll Without Consent NSFW
There are thousands of reports of companies stealing artists’ work every year, though this time, a firm stole more than just art.
Yael Cohen Aris, an Israeli model, is suing an adult doll company for stealing her likeness without her consent, which, until recently, matched right down to her name and beauty mark.
She first became aware of the doll in 2019, when a fan alerted her to early iterations of the product bearing her first name.
Aris told This Morning that actual images from her social media accounts had been used by the firm to promote the doll without them ever reaching out to seek her permission.
The manufacturer, China-based Irontech, was apparently not subtle about imitating the influencer’s likeness. Not only does the doll don identical black-rimmed glasses, it even bears a birthmark similar to the one under Aris’ lower lip.
Irontech claimed that any similarities between Aris and its offering were simply a “coincidence.”
According to Futurism, the model isn’t looking for financial compensation but rather wants the company to stop producing the doll and give her an explanation as to how it came to be without her knowledge.
“It’s doubly wrong because it’s connected to my identity—it’s not just a doll that looks like me or is inspired by me; they never hid the fact it’s developed from me,” she told the show, as reported by The Times of Israel.
“We need to have this conversation about how we can protect our identities,” she said.
