The United Parcel Service, better known as UPS, has partnered with New York Fashion Week as its official logistics partner.
Not only will it be delivering items to and from the event, but the shipping giant will also present its first apparel collection in collaboration with In The Blk, a nonprofit organization backing upcoming Black designers.
According to Input, the 14-piece collection includes T-shirts, hoodies, hats, backpacks, a multitool, and even wireless speakers and homeware. And if you were wondering, the capsule designs will have “nothing to do with deliveries.”
Small- and medium-sized businesses, especially Black-owned ventures, were among the most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years. To help them out, UPS expanded its ‘Be Unstoppable’ program to support a wide variety of traders.
This initiative involved the company raising over half a million dollars for minority-owned businesses through ‘Proudly Unstoppable’, with celebrities like Serena Williams and J Balvin raising awareness for the cause.
As per WWD, the brand hired photographer Christian Cody and stylist Ugo Mozie to curate the looks, with the proceeds of the collection pledged to go to In The Blk. Additionally, UPS will donate US$50,000 to support Black entrepreneurs in their future ventures.
The special fashion show will take place on February 13, with the collection’s goods retailing for between US$28 and US$98.
“NYFW is another example of how we can come together and show up in a different way with how customers perceive us. It’s not about just writing a check. This is something we’re going to lean on,” said Kevin Warren, Chief Marketing Officer at UPS.
