‘Wordle’ Saves Life Of 80-Year-Old Woman Who Was Kidnapped Before Her Daily Fix

Much of the world has jumped into the Wordle hype, but its impact stretches further: 80-year-old Denyse Holt’s life could’ve actually been saved thanks to the daily word game.

Holt had been asleep in her home in Chicago when a naked man broke through the front window and crawled into her bed brandishing a pair of scissors. He then forced her into a bath before barricading her in the basement bathroom.

“I was in shock. I was trying to survive, that’s all,” Holt told WBBM-TV following the incident.

According to CNET, the victim’s daughter, Meredith Holt-Caldwell, had realized something was amiss when her mother hadn’t read her messages or sent in her Wordle score, which she had started doing daily. 

This led her to the daughter alerting the police, who arrived at the home with a SWAT team that used a stun gun to debilitate and restrain the perpetrator, thereby rescuing Holt, who had been held hostage for over 12 hours.

“I didn’t send my older daughter a Wordle in the morning. And that was disconcerting to her,” explained Holt to CBS News.

Fortunately, as per iNews, the woman was unharmed in the incident, probably saving herself due to her calm demeanor throughout the harrowing experience.

Police have revealed that the suspect is facing multiple charges, including home invasion with a dangerous weapon, aggravated kidnapping while armed with a dangerous weapon, and aggravated assault against a peace officer.
