Veuve Clicquot Transports Passengers From France To Italy In Old-Timey Train
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of Veuve Clicquot, the famously luxurious Venice Simplon-Orient-Express by Belmond is offering travelers the opportunity for a champagne-splashed journey.
Beginning on June 5, in Reims, France, which is the home of Veuve Clicquot, the Solaire Adventure will see guests enjoying a tour of the cellars before boarding the train heading towards Venice.
It’s said to evoke the shipping route of the very first bottles of Veuve, paying homage to the brand’s storied history.
Onboard, a four-course dinner by chef Jean Imbert will be served alongside champagne, of course. Around sunrise, the train will be passing the Alps into Austria, and upon arrival in Venice, guests will travel by boat to the Cipriani hotel, which is also owned by Belmond.
That evening, June 7, the journey is rounded off with a sunset ball (and presumably more champagne), which Robb Report states honors Veuvre’s “solaire art de vivre.”
“The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express experience takes passengers on an immersive ride exploring the savoir-faire and cultural footprint of Maison Veuve Clicquot, in celebration of 250 years,” Veuve Clicquot’s CEO, Jean-Marc Gallot, tells the publication.
Astronomical luxury comes with an equally astronomical price tag, as is expected. Prices for two begin at £12,400 (US$16,790) for the twin cabin, with the elegant grand suite reaching up to £43,000 (US$58,215) for the best of the best.
