Google Spotlights ‘Real Tones’ Of People Of Color In Campaign Shot On Pixel 6

Cameras haven’t been all that truthful when capturing skin tones other than white. People of color might have the pictures to remember their milestones, but these moments aren’t preserved well—their skin tones are often washed out, shifting the focus to other subjects instead.

Google is changing the game with the Pixel 6, which now has AI-powered ‘Real Tone’ camera capabilities. What the feature does is retain the true colors of human skin tones so every person is respectfully represented.

The company illustrated its inclusive stance in a spot for Super Bowl LVI, which shines a light on the struggles people of color have long dealt with when having their photos taken, and then recaptures the complexions of people accurately in well-lit photos.

The campaign, soundtracked with Lizzo’s new If You Love Me track, features diverse subjects of various backgrounds, including the singer herself. The song’s lyrics are fitting of the message, and declare: “If you love me, you love all of me, everything the light touches… And if you love me, you love all of me, or none of me at all.”
