Amazon Ends Feud With Visa, Which Serves As Good News For Users

Amazon will continue to allow customers worldwide to use Visa credit cards to pay for their purchases, including ending surcharges on payments in countries such as Australia and Singapore.

This U-turn comes just days before the ban was due to take effect, and it appears that both companies have reached an agreement that will see Visa cards being accepted despite months of threats to ban the firm, as per TechRadar.

“We’ve recently reached a global agreement with Visa that allows all customers to continue using their Visa credit cards in our stores,” said an Amazon spokesperson.

“Amazon remains committed to offering customers a payment experience that it convenient and offers choice,” they added. 

According to AP News, Amazon had initially moved to ban Visa due to the “high fees [it] charges for processing credit card transactions” as compared to its competitors, making it possible that the new agreement may have resolved the issue. 

Both firms have agreed to continue the partnership and will even collaborate on product and technology initiatives for “innovative payment experiences” in the future, said Visa.
