Cruelty-Free Adult Toys Become First In World To Receive Vegan Trademark NSFW

For people who are now vegan for ethical reasons, everything you put into your body—and not just the mouth—counts. Well, antsy animal activists can now take pleasure in a series of sex toys that have just been certified vegan.
The Vegan Society, the world’s oldest vegan organization which was founded way back in 1944, has presented a Vegan Trademark to all four gadgets from queer- and women-owned wellness tech firm Vibio, a first for the world of sex toys.
Similar to many of today’s pleasure devices, Vibio’s toys are wearable and app-controlled.
Coming hand in hand with the accolade, the startup’s 12 cruelty-free lubricants—which are also packaged in eco-friendly sugarcane tubes—have been given the same trademark.

The Vegan Trademark was awarded to the brand’s vibrators and lubricants as they are “entirely free from animal products and testing,” The Vegan Society explains.
“We’re firm believers on the power of tech when it comes to creating change and positive impact in the world, and wanted to apply this to the sexual wellness space,” comments Vibio co-founder Patricia Cervantes Santana, who started the company with childhood friend Alma Ramírez Acosta in 2018. “Our mission has always been creating an inclusive brand that would not only make tools to explore sexuality but combining them with content to guide people in their sexual journey.”

Santana, who’s vegan herself, says it is “essential that our products be accessible to the vegan community.”
Vibio’s wearable devices aren’t the first vegan adult toys, though. Last year, UK health product retailer Holland & Barrett launched a selection of vegetable-shaped toys that are also cruelty-free, though these haven’t been presented with the Vegan Society’s trademark.
The Vegan Society’s marketing manager Ericka Durgahee acknowledges that it’s easy to forget that “a lot of lubricants, toys, and even condoms can contain animal derivatives, such as certain enzymes, animal skin and beeswax, or may have been tested on animals.”
“Registering our first electronic personal toys with the Vegan Trademark is expressly exciting news for the team,” Durgahee concludes.
In the sphere of inclusive sex, the US Food & Drug Administration has recently authorized the first condom for anal intercourse.
