People Are Booking Airbnb Rentals In Ukraine To Raise Money For Residents

Airbnb has pledged to find temporary housing for 100,000 Ukrainian refugees fleeing the country, and now, members of the public are also forming a campaign of their own to help more residents in need.
In an inspiring public-led collaboration, people around the world are booking local Airbnb rentals with no intention of staying. The money made from the transactions will serve as donations for locals who may be struggling financially as a result of the Russian invasion.
Those involved in the fundraising drive also dropped a message to hosts to let them know that they wouldn’t be lodging at the homes, and were just making a small contribution to offer some support.

After calls from users to waive transactions in the nation, the homestay platform confirmed with the Guardian that has moved into that suggestion. Prior to the military invasion in Ukraine, the company’s charity arm had already made a separate commitment to provide free temporary housing for 40,000 refugees.
“We appreciate the generosity of our community during this moment of crisis,” said an Airbnb spokesperson. “Airbnb is also waiving all guest and host fees on all bookings in Ukraine at this time.”
