Volkswagen Offers Close Peek Inside New Colorful All-Electric Microbus

It is no longer a secret that Volkswagen is electrifying the microbus of the 1960s, and it’s now sharing some teaser pictures of the exciting new ID. Buzz’s interior ahead of a March 9 launch.
The 2022 edition will see the arrival of two models: a five-seater ID. Buzz for consumers and the ID. Buzz Cargo for electric deliveries, which will have most of its seats omitted. The regular microbus will be able to hold 1,121 liters of luggage even with passengers inside, while the latter will allow more than 137.7 cubic feet of cargo.

The party, however, takes place inside this unit. Coordinating with the EV’s vibrant rainbow paint job, the bus’ leather seats, door trims, and dash panel are splashed in a vintage-esque brick orange.

Delightful motifs like a smiley-face engraving can also be found within. They’re peppered throughout for an element of surprise: “Most of them are only discovered at a second glance,” the automaker teases. Other wonderful touches include an ice scraper and a bottle opener.

Since this microbus is built for the 21st century, Volkswagen ensured to construct it with sustainable materials. In place of leather and other animal-based products are recycled alternatives like SEAQUAL yarn, made from 10% ocean plastic and 90% recycled PET bottles, and ArtVelours ECO upholstery, which consists of 71% recycled materials.
When it’s finally available, the camper will come in seven single-hued interior options and four two-tone options.
