The phrase “female equality” wasn’t the first thing that came to mind when the logo of a subsidiary from the Prime Minister and Cabinet (PM&C) in Australia exposed itself to internet users.
The Women’s Network runs on the government’s plans to advocate gender equality in the workplace by inciting cultural changes, “particularly in areas where men can make a significant contribution,” says the organization. It aims to empower women’s career growth by providing opportunities in education, networking, and career mobility.
Members of the public aren’t seeing the ballsy initiative for what it is, unfortunately. Their main criticism is that the branding looks like a phallic structure, an image that would come into conflict with the network’s goals.
Meanwhile, one person perceives the ‘W’ to be another set of sensitive bits, adding that the monogram is missing nipples. Another points out that, in terms of NSFW parts, the logo seems to have nailed them all—from a man’s nether regions to buttocks, breasts, and even an adult toy.
It turns out that the board wasn’t dicking around with the design. Some users have noted that the branding is consistent with PM&C’s design system, with its other logos being pill-shaped as well.
