Twitter Rolls Back Timeline Makeover Just Days After Introducing It
Mere days after introducing a new tabbed timeline that made its algorithm the default feed for users, Twitter has decided to can the update.
“We heard you. Some of you always want to see latest tweets first,” the social media platform tweeted, in response to complaints. “We’ve switched the timeline back and removed the tabbed experience for now while we explore other options,” it added.
Last week, the social media platform debuted the new feature on iOS, making its algorithmically-generated timeline the first thing users would see upon launching the app.
According to Engadget, despite allowing users to pin ‘Latest Tweets’ as a secondary tab, the app did not allow the chronological feed to be set as the foremost option.
It appears that due to feedback over the unwelcome change, the network has decided to halt plans to roll out the update, and may look into a new way to appease users who enjoy both the default feed and chronological timeline.
