If you’re a huge fan of its buttery-soft leggings and yoga accessories, Lululemon’s latest offering could be just right up your alley: its first-ever women’s running sneaker.
In total, the brand plans to launch four different shoes, with the first being the Blissfeel, a running shoe retailing at US$148 in 10 different colors.
What’s special is that the kicks were created especially with women in mind, which is not the norm when it comes to the sneaker industry. Lululemon said it keyed in on materials, cushioning, and support, and based the shoe’s design on four years of research and over a million scans of women’s feet.
“We intentionally started with women first because we saw an opportunity to solve for the fact that, more often than not, performance shoes are designed for men and then adapted for women,” said Sun Choe, Lululemon’s Chief Product Officer.
“Innovating for women is in Lululemon’s DNA—now we’re bringing that same expertise to footwear, and women were part of this journey every step of the way.”
Following the Blissfeel, the brand will release three other shoes later this year: the Chargefeel, which is intended for cross-training; the Restfeel, a casual slip-on; and the Strongfeel, the most supportive pair designed for multi-directional movement.
As for men, you’ll have to wait till 2023 before Lululemon comes out with a pair just for you.
