Zoom Will Now Let You Directly Stream Your Meetings To Twitch ... Because?

A quarter way through the third year of the pandemic, there are few words as synonymous with fatigue as Zoom, with countless of hours spent attending virtual meetings and seminars via the video conferencing app.

Now, in its latest update, the company has added Twitch integration to its platform, so users can livestream their video calls directly to the masses. Perhaps this feature could come in handy if you want public opinion on your firm’s latest branding strategy, but it’s difficult to foresee many users wanting to air their digital chats online.

“To help our customers streamline the process of sharing content within their communities and extend their reach, account owners and admins can now allow hosts to livestream their meeting or webinar to Twitch directly,” Zoom said in a blog post. 

According to Mashable, live-streaming your Zoom meeting to any third-party platform, including Twitch, can only be used by licensed users on paid Pro, Business, Enterprise, or Education plans. And with the cheapest being the Pro license, which costs US$149.90 per year, it certainly is a premium feature.

In addition, as per TechRadar, users who want to start a Twitch stream will have to be approved by the account owner or admin, meaning your company could likely put a stop to your dreams of becoming the next superstar gaming streamer.
